Botanical Name: Chamaemelum nobile (L.)
Synonyms: Anthemis nobilis, Garden Chamomile
Family: Asteraceae (Compositae)
Common Uses:
Roman Chamomile essential oil is cherished for its gentle, soothing properties, making it a favorite for emotional balance, relaxation, and calming tension. Traditionally used with children, it is excellent for easing impatience, restlessness, and stress-related discomforts. This oil is also known for its support in digestive and skin care applications.
Blends well with:
- Insomnia: Lavender, Sandalwood
- Anxiety, Nervous Tension, Stress: Bergamot, Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Sweet Orange, Sandalwood
- PMS, Dysmenorrhea: Clary Sage, Lavender, Ylang Ylang
Precautions / Contraindications:
- Traditionally considered one of the gentlest oils and safe for children.
- Non-toxic, non-irritating, non-sensitizing.
- Prone to oxidation—avoid old or oxidized oils.
- Avoid if allergic to Asteraceae plants or Chamomile.
- No known contraindications.
- GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe).
As with all essential oils, taking internally, ingesting, or adding to food/beverages is not recommended and can cause harm.
Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children, lids secured in a cool, dark location.
