Lemon Essential Oil
Botanical Name: Citrus limonum / Citrus x limon (L.) Osbeck
Synonyms: Expressed Lemon Oil, Citrus limonum Risso
Family: Rutaceae
Common Uses:
Lemon essential oil is known for its bright, refreshing, and clarifying properties. It promotes mental clarity, emotional balance, and a sense of vitality. It is often used for immune support, cognitive function, and purifying the air.
Blends well with:
- Mental Clarity, Fatigue, Tiredness: Basil, Black Pepper, Geranium, Ginger, Lemongrass, Peppermint, Spearmint
- Antiseptic / Antimicrobial: Eucalyptus, Lavender, Tea Tree, Thyme
- Energizing & Uplifting: Ginger, Black Pepper, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Bark, Rosemary, Sweet Orange
Precautions / Contraindications:
- Phototoxic – Do not apply to the skin within 12 hours before exposure to sunlight, UV rays, or tanning beds (may cause burns).
- Maximum dermal level: 2%.
- Avoid using oxidized oil (skin sensitization risk).
- Regarded as non-toxic, non-irritating in fresh, non-oxidized form.
- GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe).
As with all essential oils, taking internally, ingesting, or adding to food/beverages is not recommended and can cause harm.
Keep all essential oils out of the reach of children, lids secured in a cool, dark location.

Note: Steam-distilled Lemon essential oil is available, but it has a different chemical profile and characteristics than cold-expressed Lemon oil.
