Japanese Peppermint (Mentha arvensis)

Botanical Name: Mentha arvensis
Synonyms: Cornmint, hakka
Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

Common Uses:
Japanese Peppermint, also known as Cornmint or Hakka, carries an intense, fresh menthol aroma that invigorates the senses and sharpens mental clarity. Steam-distilled from partially dried leaves, this oil is well-loved for easing mental fatigue, promoting motivation and clear thinking, and offering a refreshing boost to self-confidence and concentration.

Traditionally valued for digestive and respiratory support, Japanese Peppermint is used to soothe discomforts like bloating, nausea, and tension headaches, while its cooling, cleansing nature brings relief when you’re feeling mentally scattered or sluggish.

Blends well with:
Digestive Support: Aniseed, Caraway Seed, Ginger, Sweet Orange, Spearmint
Respiratory Congestion: Eucalyptus, Fir, Pine, Spruce
Mental Fatigue: Basil, Black Pepper, Ginger, Lemon, Pine, Rosemary

Precautions / Contraindications:
Japanese Peppermint contains high menthol levels and is considered more toxic than other peppermint oils due to its pulegone content. Avoid use around infants and young children, and do not use if you have cardiac fibrillation or G6PD deficiency. Peppermint may be sensitizing for some. Never ingest essential oils.
Keep out of reach of children, lids tightly closed, stored in a cool, dark place.
